Overview

PasteScreenshot is a local-first screenshot organizer. Your screenshots, tags, and settings never leave your browser. We collect minimal, anonymous analytics to understand how the product is used.

What stays on your device

All of the following data is stored entirely in your browser and is never sent to our servers:

  • Screenshots and images — stored in IndexedDB within your browser profile.
  • Tags and metadata — stored alongside your images in IndexedDB.
  • App settings — composition defaults, theme preference, and analytics preference stored in localStorage.

Anonymous product-usage analytics

When enabled (the default), PasteScreenshot sends anonymous, aggregate event counts to help us understand which features are used. Each event includes:

  • Event name — one of: capture_success, download_success, edit_save, delete, or clear_all.
  • Event context — capture source (paste, drag-drop, upload), download mode (single or zip), or whether scene composition was enabled.
  • Anonymous browser ID — a random UUID stored in localStorage. It is not linked to your identity and is cleared immediately when you opt out.

Events are recorded as aggregate metrics. No image data, filenames, tags, or personal information is ever included.

Page-view analytics

We use cookieless, third-party page-view analytics that do not collect personal identifiers. They record:

  • Page URL and referrer
  • Browser type and operating system
  • Country (derived from IP, which is not stored)

Page-view analytics operates independently of the product-usage analytics toggle in settings.

What we do not collect

  • Screenshots, images, or any file content
  • Filenames, tags, or text you enter
  • Names, email addresses, or other personal identifiers
  • Cookies — PasteScreenshot uses no cookies

Your controls

  • Opt out of product-usage analytics — open Global Settings and turn off "Allow anonymous usage analytics." This immediately stops all event reporting and deletes your stored browser ID.
  • Delete all local data — use "Clear all" in the app, or clear your browser's site data to remove everything PasteScreenshot has stored.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of PasteScreenshot after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
